Leading the 145-pound tournament field is early favorite Ronda Rousey (1-0). While the 23-year-old Rousey is still young in her mixed martial arts career, the two-time Olympic judoka carries high expectations. Owning some of the most impressive credentials in the history of U.S. judo, Rousey counts a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Games among her many accomplishments. Rousey takes on gritty Team Quest product Autumn Richardson (3-1) in an opening round contest. The 27-year-old Richardson, a four-time Tuff-N-Uff veteran, carries a two-fight win streak to the ring in her bid for Tuff-N-Uff's 145-pound crown. On the opposite side of the bracket, undefeated 19-year-old prospect Taylor Stratford (5-0) stands poised as another likely contender. Since her MMA debut in November 2009, Stratford has reeled-off five-straight wins and is widely considered among the best 145-pound prospects in the nation. Opposing Stratford is debuting Team Quest product Shauna Dugger (0-0). A boxing specialist, Dugger enters the matchup as the underdog, but her team warns opponents that underestimating her chances would be unwise. The remainder of the eight-woman field will be announced in the coming weeks, but with four entrants already official, expect one of the most ambitious amateur tournaments ever held in the women's 145-pound class. "It's amazing to see how for mixed martial arts has progressed in just 17 years," Meyer said. "I remember watching the first UFC live on pay-per-view, and I knew immediately that I had to be involved in the sport. "For mixed martial arts to now be attracting Olympic veterans at the amateur level just 17 years later shows how wonderful this sport is and how bright the future can be." Winners from the Nov. 12 tournament bouts return for the semifinals on Jan. 7, 2011, while the finals will be conducted on Feb. 11 In addition to the female tournament bouts, Tuff-N-Uff's Nov. 12 event also hosts a number of intriguing matchups in the men's division. In middleweight action, Xtreme Couture's Zach Conley (3-1) meets Wand Fight Team's Matt Dahlkemper (3-0). A four-time Tuff-N-Uff veteran, Conley looks to rebound from the lone loss of his career, while Dahlkemper hopes to keeps his unblemished record intact in this contest of rival Las Vegas camps. Meanwhile, Team Tompkins lightweight Jonathon Rodeffer (7-2) meets newcomer Shane Johnson (0-0) of Xtreme Couture in a battle of experience vs. highly-touted youth. The Ultimate Fighter is a reality show about professional fighters struggling to get into the UFC. In 2005, it introduced us to Josh Koscheck, total dick. Young Josh spent the show playing mean-spirited pranks and mocking other fighters until they hated him. He's such an insecure douche that the DVD release dangerously interfered with the natural bacterial culture of the vaginas in Best Buy. Despite that, Josh found success after the show and has returned as a coach this season. So what did his five years of world class competition teach him about maturity and respect? It taught him that you're a nerd fag for asking. And also, is baby going to cry?
Koscheck is belligerent like his name is Anonymous. He bullies fighters, coaches, medics, camera men... they try ignoring him or asking him to behave, but he only acts like that's some kind of victory. I knew I had to do something, so I began work on a series of Josh Koscheck insults. For example, Josh Koscheck has so little character that he'd punch his girlfriend for asking how she got chlamydia. Unfortunately, I was contracted to write a book at the time, and the publisher technically owned everything I was working on. UFC President Dana White Finally Announces WEC Merging into UFC

UFC President Dana White has finally announced that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) will finally merge early on in 2011.  White stated "the last fight for the WEC will be be in December [2010]."  The UFC President then elaborated that every fight in the 155 lb division will roll into the UFC and the UFC will add all those lower weight classes.


We at MMAMaxim.com think it did not make sense to have a confusion of brands (UFC vs WEC) unless the WEC fighters were amateurs (which they are not) and Zuffa was trying to distinguish the level of proficiency of the fighters by the WEC.

UFC ALSO ANNOUNCES DEAL WITH VERSUS TO AIR FOUR FIGHTS IN 2011

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – In a media conference call today, Ultimate Fighting Championship® President Dana White announced the UFC is adding two new championship divisions at bantamweight (135lbs.) and featherweight (145lbs.), while also announcing a new television deal with the VERSUS Network to air four UFC fights in 2011.

“As the UFC continues to evolve and grow globally, we want to be able to give fans title fights in every weight division,” said White. “This is a big day for the sport and the athletes who will have the opportunity to fight on the biggest stage in the world.”

The two new divisions feature WEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo who will now be recognized as the reigning UFC featherweight champion, and WEC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz. White confirmed that the winner of the Dec. 16 lightweight title fight between WEC champion Ben Henderson and top contender Anthony Pettis live on VERSUS will take on the winner of the UFC 125 main event title bout between champion Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard. This upcoming fight will serve as a UFC lightweight title unification bout to be held next year.
White also stated the UFC is expanding its presence on the VERSUS Network in 2011, and will increase its number of UFC events from two to four per year. Versus is scheduled to air the two remaining live WEC events in 2010 on Nov. 11 and Dec. 16. The Nov. 11 event in Las Vegas will feature “The California Kid” Urijah Faber’s debut at bantamweight as he takes on Takeya Mizugaki, while the Dec. 16 event in Glendale, Ariz. will feature Henderson-Pettis and a bantamweight title clash between Dominick Cruz and challenger Scott Jorgensen with the winner becoming the new UFC bantamweight champion.

“We have a great relationship with the VERSUS network, and we look forward to working with them to give UFC fans even more free fights in 2011,” said White.
