MMA Movie Starring Selma Hayek Shows We Are Behind But Catching Up!

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) will be a theme Sony Pictures is considering in their untitled movie with Salma Hayek and Kevin James.  U.S. movies are starting to include MMA (interdisciplinary martial arts like Thai-boxing, wrestling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, karate, Bruce Lee's jeet kune do, etc.) instead of boxing as a theme.  This is a sure indicia that MMA is challenging the more established sport of boxing to illustrate combat sports in North America.  Combat sports fans in countries like Brazil, Netherlands, and Japan must think we are really behind. Well, we are behind Selma Hayek...but trying to catch up.

Kevin James would be playing the MMA fighter. “It’s about a physics teacher whose school is facing cutbacks. In order to save the music teacher’s job, James moonlights as an MMA fighter.” James starred in the movie "Grown Ups" with comedians Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, and David Spade.
