UFC 123 Post-Fight Press Conference And The Famous Rampage Slams

UFC 123 Post-Fight Press Conference At http://www.ufc.com/news

UFC President Dana White discussed how Zuffa, LLC plans to have 30-31 UFC (including the newly merged WEC) fights in 2011 and plans to expand into over a billion homes worldwide from the current 500 million homes in 175 countries.

UFC 123's big winners spoke to the media after the fights. Dana White awarded $80,000 bonuses to George Sotiropoulos and Joe Lauzon for Fight of the Night; BJ Penn scored Knockout of the Night bonus; and Phil Davis received the Submission of the Night for his modified kimura dubbed the "Mr. Wonderful" by Joe Rogan.  Our jiu-jitsu instructor back in the day called it the  "chicken wing."

Rampage's coach Lance Gibson advised Rampage during the fight to "knee his wheels" and "stomp his wheels" referring to Machida's legs.  Rampage used foot stomps while in the clinch with Machida but this did not slow down Machida.

Not quite the same Rampage as in the Pride Fighting Championship but hopefully a full-time return to MMA for fans instead of movies and/or WWE. Rampage had an nice attempted slam of Machida who had Rampage in an arm bar attempt.  However, Machida just let go when Rampage started to raise him for the slam unlike Ricardo Arona in 2004 at Pride FC's Critical Countdown (see far right picture).

BJ Penn vs Frankie Edgar training videos. How should Penn change his training for his fight against Matt Hughes at UFC 123?

Matt Hughes Vs Bj Penn III at UFC 123 in the Motor City Detroit, Michigan!

Both fighters have officially confirmed that they will be fighting for the third time at UFC 123. This third bout will be the tie breaker for the two former champions. They first met at UFC 46 in January 2004, where Penn earned the "W..." via rear naked choke and was crowned the new champ. They met once more at UFC 63 where Hughes got his revenge and finished Bj via TKO in the third round.

UFC 123 will be the promotion's first trip to Michigan since UFC 9 in Detroit in 1996. Though not officially announced by the UFC, the main event is expected to be a light heavyweight bout between former champions Lyoto Machida and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.

We have enjoyed reading Penn's "Mixed Martial Arts: Book of Knowledge" and respect his abilities. We will make a special trip to show Penn these equipment if he asks us because we want to see him win again.

We highly recommend the plyometrics training materials by Todd Durkin and Training For Warriors.

Watch Penn's training videos (below) four weeks before his fight with Frankie Edgar and let us know how you think he should train more effectively for his fight with Matt Hughes.  We strongly advocate new advanced training drills with an enforcer trainer who will increase the intensity of his training by using advanced drills with kettle bells, medicine balls, and the items below for improved stamina and better leg strikes.

We also have a contact who sells Cap kettlebells in Southern California at great prices. We just bought a bunch and love using them for our outdoor boot camp workouts in West L.A. with MMA drills.  You can swing and shot put them like the ancient Greco-Romans in the sand for added resistance and for advanced drills on a BoSU (Both Sides Up) platform. Please check with your medical doctor and health professionals before beginning any exercise program.

Basic Tips When Buying Running Shoes
New Balance Trail Running Shoes have additional support for plyometrics and weight lifting. New Balance also offers shoes based on different width sizes. Step on a piece of blank paper with moderate pressure when each foot is wet to make an imprint.  The more of your foot you see the more flat footed you are.  Tell this to the salesperson at a reputable store and ask them to test your foot for supination (foot tends to shift outwards) or pronation (foot tends to shift inwards) so you can buy shoes that are best for you.

Add Instability to Your Workout to increase Intensity
